Our History - Since 1977...
Bellevue Massage School began in and has been a member of the
Crossroads community of Bellevue, Washington since 1977. Massage
therapist Ronaye Camren founded the school which was one of the first
massage schools in western Washington and was the first massage school
on the Eastside of Lake Washington.
From the beginning Bellevue Massage School has emphasized a strong
foundation of Swedish Relaxation Massage and holistic health education. As a
privately-owned school for massage therapy, Bellevue Massage School has
always maintained an intention to keep class sizes small in order to nurture
each individual’s needs and learning styles. In doing so Bellevue Massage
School facilitates its students to get the absolute most out of their
learning experience with instructors and peers.
To add more hands-on learning potential for its students, Bellevue Massage
School established a Student Clinic, which is still to this day an integral
portion of the program and has formed significant roots in the community.
In 1996 Jim and Kathy Schmidt purchased the school from its original owner
Ronaye Camren. Jim and Kathy each brought with them years of experience in
the holistic medicine and educational fields. It was their intention to
maintain the integrity and atmosphere that Bellevue Massage School had
become known for while expanding its curriculum and modernizing its
facilities.
Today, Bellevue Massage School remains privately owned. It is known for
smaller class sizes for greater individual attention to students and also
for offering an exceptional foundation of Swedish Relaxation Massage, just
as it had from its beginning. The difference between what was offered at the
beginning and today is that Bellevue Massage School has a much more
integrated curriculum, newer facilities and a complete supply store for
massage and other manual therapists. Some of the courses taught today
include training in Reflexology, Sport Massage, Chair Massage, Hydrotherapy,
Treatment Massage and other modalities of massage. Also, the Student Clinic
at Bellevue Massage School continues to be one of the most popular
components of the program for the students and is more rooted into the
community than ever before. In its ongoing commitment to the community,
Bellevue Massage School and Eastside Bodyworker Center and Supplies
regularly hold classes that are open for all to attend, as well as
Continuing Education classes for our graduates and other licensed massage
therapists.
With all of its growth and upgrades, even the name Bellevue Massage School
has undergone change. In 2005, Center For Healing Arts, was added. Today,
Bellevue Massage School Center For Healing Arts and the new store, Eastside
Bodyworker Center and Supplies, work together to maintain the highest
standards of education and professionalism by remaining a staple of the
Crossroads community in Bellevue. Please call today or fill out our
